The first time I had used a stethoscope was when I auscultated my client’s chest and heard adventitious breath sounds located at the base of the lungs bilaterally. At that moment, I was convinced that the stethoscope was a powerful and useful assessment tool. Now that I back to it, I came to a realization that I, the nurse had the power all along; it was that power that led me to conduct the assessment correctly and use this tool.
